Small Budget Bedroom Redo

I've been doing a lot of bedroom redo's lately.  All on "baby" budgets.  I actually like having a small budget because it forces you to get creative, and fix things up.  Here was the bedroom before.

Ok, so, everything went out of this room except for the mattress set.  The walls are a soft green, even though it's difficult to tell that from the picture.  The paint color and the carpet both stayed the same.

So, here is the budget savvy makeover.  The lighting is tough in this room so I took pictures of parts of the room, rather than the whole thing, trying to control the glare from the window.

Alright, so you know I'm a huge fan of thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales and discount stores.  This mirrored chest came from a discount store. The store, Tuesday Morning, to be precise.  I love that store.  Got it for a steal.  It had a few scuffs here and there, so I got it marked down even more, then went home and fixed up the scuffs with my trusty Rub n' Buff (Gold Leaf) now it looks brand new!  The lamps came from Tuesday Morning too!   

You can also find great little mirrors at thrift stores and flea markets.  The homeowner already had the little square one,  I found the other and gave it a coat of spray paint. 

An inexpensive way to get great curtains on a budget.... make them yourself.  Sewing up a basic curtain panel is probably one of the easiest things you can do. Check out the fabric discount stores for great fabrics at discounted prices.  This fabric came from Calico Corners and was actually kind of pricey, but I could splurge a little because I saved so much throughout the rest of the room.

I found this tone on tone cream fabric with a coral motif.  The coral has a sheen to it... so pretty!

I found this pretty little chair at a thrift store.  I sprayed it with polyurethane to give it a gloss and recovered the seat.  Quick and easy.

Then there is the table.  Also a thrift store find.  That's actually a 2 seater dinette type table, but there was enough room beside the bed;  I thought it would make a perfect bedside table.  It was brown and scratched up, but, I liked the shape.  I sanded it down, sprayed it with several cans of Valspar spray paint, then gold leafed the edge (Rub n' Buff) and called it a day.  I'll post the before and after pics of these projects in the next couple of days.

Then there's the headboard...whew... so many projects in this room!

I upholstered this queen size headboard.  I found an inexpensive wood headboard on Craigslist, then added padding,  fabric, and finished it off with cord trim.  That "how to" will be posted soon too.  I added a little gold sequined throw pillow for fun.

Anyone care to venture a guess on how much my budget was??? Now don't go crazy and say something like $100 bucks or anything.  I mean my budget was small but it wasn't that small! : )
