I have bentwood chairs on the brain! I found four of these chairs a while back, at a garage sale.
The woman I bought them from said she brought them with her when she moved to the states from Prague. I think they might be vintage Thonet chairs, but I'm not sure. I haven't been able to find any info on chairs with a back like these. They do have a paper label on the bottom that says "FMG" not sure what that means, but, looking online I have seen it referenced with the Thonet chairs. So, if anyone happens to stumble across this post and has any knowledge about these chairs please let me know the deal-e-yo.
Now I just have to figure out where I'm going to put them... Here are a bunch of other rooms featuring other peoples bentwood chairs. I'm a fan!
Grr I tried so hard to find the info on those. Months ago I read a story on a blog very similar to yours where someone bought chairs from an older person who had moved here from another country (I don't remember which country in Europe), but the point is that I recall them also having the FMG label and she was able to dig up quite a bit of information on it. I could not for the life of me find it though or am certain which blog I read it in. Le sigh :(
ReplyDeleteOn a cheerier note I LOVE LOVE LOVE your stack of suitcases and the trunk!I don't know why but I am mainly attracted to metal suitcases. Although I've found some cute smaller ones that were used for make up and such too (that aren't metal)! :)
