So as you might have noticed in my last post, I'm actually working on two rooms right now. My entryway and my living room. In the entryway, I am giving myself a little time to get used to the new paint job. But in the living room, I'm working hard at pulling my color scheme together. That means some repainting. I decided to change my steamer trunk. I had already painted it once, for a past living room experiment look (See that look here). But I've been in the mood lately to lighten things up a bit, so this time I'm using a light gray color.
Here it is before
I used a small roller to paint the body of the trunk and then a small artist brush to go around all the hardware.
Here it is after the first coat. It needed a second.
Here it is all finished!
What do you think? Looks cool right?

It does look cool :) I like how it looks similar to the glam pot now. I love how you always seem to have the perfect fitting glass top for everything :) I've looked around a bit but haven't found anything I'd be willing to pay. I did buy a round wood top, though.
ReplyDeleteI did a little dance when I put that piece of glass on the trunk and it fit perfectly! How lucky was I! You know I pick up glass tops every time I come across them. I have a stock pile now. : ) I don't think I've ever spent more than $15 for a glass top and that's because they were on a junky tables. I haven't come across many lately either. : ( Thank goodness I already have a bunch.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous! I love the lighter color. I really like the table from the previous post too - love those greens! Thanks so much for sharing!

ReplyDeleteOMG This is gorgeous! I have a crappy trunk that I've been wanting to make over for a while, and I think this just might give me the kick in the pants I need! I love that its table-height too- so chic! I love the mustard color! I'd love to know what it wound up being paired with. I would love it if you linked up to T.G.I.F. I refinished an old steamer trunk with canvas and the edges are covered in aluminum siding. Can I use rub n buff on the aluminum flashing? Is it possible to pose pics on the comments section so I can show you what I am talking about or email you a pic of it?
ReplyDeleteThanks

I love how you re-did this trunk! I have a trunk of my own that's in major need of a face lift and I was wondering what kind of paint did you use?
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline!
DeleteI used latex paint (interior wall paint), satin finish.
