Christmas Decorations For The Stairs

I love, love, LOVE, Christmas time.  I love Christmas lights.  I would love to keep them up all year.  For the stairs,  I attached branches strung with white lights, to the spindels, then drenched them in lots of gold ornaments and bead strands. 

I like using branches for Christmas time, but you can dangle things from the limbs.  I think it creates a pretty effect.

Ode to the dollar store ornaments!!

I had two garlands of gold beads like these red ones below.

So I cut them up into strips and draped them all over the limbs.  Two bead garlands go a long way when you cut them up!

Then I added a few gold and green wrapped presents below.

Non-Traditional Christmas Tree

My non-traditional Christmas tree!  WARNING... WARNING... TONS OF PICTURES!  I had a bunch of little gold plastic angel ornaments from past years and decided to make an angel tear drop tree.  Tears of joy of course!  I used a hot glue gun to attach the angels to the top of all the branches.

I took the chandelier crystals that I found on ebay, and threaded them with wire dollar store ribbon.  They are so pretty when the light hits them.

I tried to take lots of pictures close up so you can see all the pretty goodies on the tree. 

They seem to get lost in the pictures when I take them at a distance.  Here are a couple of pictures of the chandelier crystals.  You can buy them by the lot on ebay for pretty cheap.

Since there is no green on the tree, I put lots of greenery below in glass vases.

A wooden bowl full of walnuts and candles.

Mason jars half full of rice to hold my candles upright.

I added a couple of little roses in glass vases too.

It's definitely not traditional!  It makes me think of a Bonsai tree.  Or, a Weeping Willow Christmas tree.  Next up, the stairs!

Fabric Covered Tree Branch

Ok so I'm sure you are probably sick to death of seeing tree limbs and branches by now, but I have one more little project to show you.  It's a silly one I must admit, but strangely I love it.  Which leads me to a question for you.  Have you ever thought about upholstering a tree?  Well, I have, at least a branch anyway.  Here she is.

It's just a whole lot of wrapping strips of cut fabric around all the branches and hot glueing them down.

And here you go.  16 glue gun burns and blisters later.  She's all done!

My husband actually really likes this branch.  He thinks it looks like some sort of sea creature.  I don't know, different strokes for different fokes I guess.  I could see something like this being cute in a childs room, or even hanging over a crib like a mobile, with all sorts of interesting baby things hanging from it.

Bring The Outside In

I've been giving my dining room a major "Fall" redo.  Mainly because I have tree branches coming out of my wazoo!  But, I'm having fun with it.  I brought in lots of branches after pruning the heck out of them.  I had a lot of brown leaves to cut off!

I prettied my branches up with small silk flower strands, paper leaves, and big beads.

I love fall colors.  I'm loving this room right now.  But, I'm not finished yet!  What do you think so far?

May I Have A Slice Of Wood

I mentioned in my last post, I was outside cutting tree limbs all day.  Well, I wasn't cutting them.  I was more like, directing, where and how to cut.  Because... I had ideas!  Here are a couple of the many pieces of wood I now have to play with.

So what am I going to do with all that wood, you ask?  Hmmmm....Here is one of my thoughts... what about a "Fall" inspired tablescape, centerpiece, whatever you want to call it. 

An old Purex bottle and beer bottles filled with twigs.  Pretty colors!

 Just in case you are new to my blog.  I'll fill you in on why I've been having limbs cut up, and where they came from.  I came out the other morning to find this lovely present sitting in my driveway!
