Outdated Loveseat Turned Modern Masterpiece

So maybe the title overstates it a bit.  It might not be a masterpiece, but it's not a bad little makeover if I do say so myself.  I've had this old loveseat for a long time.  I bought it at a yard sale.  It had no cushions, and sadly it had wings.  A wooden wingback loveseat... hmmmm.  On the up side though,  it's solid wood and vintage, two things I love.  But still, what the heck am I gonna do with a wooden winged back loveseat!  Beat the heck out of it with a hammer, that's what!  Here it was,

If you notice it's a different color in the next picture.  It's because I experimented with the color Blue Spruce (Valspar) first... and then came the hammer.

The wings went bye bye!  So did the little spindle arms.  That left big holes, but nothing that a bunch of wood filler couldn't handle!

So, after a little sanding, a new color....and some cushions....

From outdated traditional, to mo-modern!

  3. Dang you're good Sandy! lol, you spot everything. Cohesive is exactly what I was going for. You know... right before I change it all again! ; )
Here is a funny tid-bit. Everything you can see in that entire picture, (excluding a couple of things hanging on the wall) cost less than $300. How is that for a thrifty makeover! And, it's so much more fun than shopping retail! lol.
