Washing Burlap And Putting It On The Table

Switching gears a little from all the rubbing and buffing that's been going on around here.  Did you know that you CAN wash smelly burlap.  I wasn't sure if you could without ruining it, but, I decided to throw it in the wash and see what happened.  It didn't disintegrate so that was a plus.  It did still have a slight smell after coming out of the washer.  Into the dryer with SEVERAL dryer sheets it went.  It came out like a giant puff ball.  Actually it looked like a comfy throw blanket. 

The dryer sheets made it smell nice, but I had to shake it out (outside) A LOT.  Lots of burlap fibers floating around!  After ironing it with lots of steam it went back to a nice flat, non-smelly, although slightly more puffy looking piece of burlap.  Really it just looks soft now.  Just thought I would share the outcome, in case there are any other burlap lovers out there that can't stand the smell and are curious about throwing it in the washing machine.  I use it on my dining room table sometimes so being clean and smell free is a good thing!

Burlap And Glass Tablescape

Burlap and glass!  So I recently bought a bunch of burlap for another project I have in the works.  Stay tuned for that, wink, wink!  But after playing with my neutral Olioboards, I thought, ooh, ooh, I know what I'll do!  I'll do a neutral themed tablescape, with an ode to my new found appreciation of the "Rustic Chic" look.

So I kept it kinda simple.  All I used was burlap, glass, white plates, and greenery.  Oh, and a couple of candles...and some green apples  And.... Just kidding.  heehee

The burlap is obviously the table cloth,

 

Then I used wine decanters, and glass bottles in the center of the table filled with springs of greenery (my bushes)

I love the texture of burlap.  I think it is so pretty.  Yep, I think burlap is PRETTY.

 

So there you have it.  Not an original idea I know.  People use burlap for curtains and everything else, these days.  But I have never used it before, so I guess I'm late to the party!  But, better late than never, I always say.

Another Table Redo.... Geeze!

Not again with the table... really?!  Yep!  I just can't help myself,  I found fabric yesterday morning and that's all it took.  I leave one of my dining tables styled most all the time.  It's always set whether anyone will be eating at it or not.  It does create a little extra work when the time comes to actually eat at the table, because of course, I have to take all my dishes up and wash them to make sure they are completely dust free and ready for food.  But that doesn't bother me one bit.  I wonder how many other people leave their tables set all the time?  Hmmmm.  

I love amber glasses, and gold rim glasses!

Here are my cheese plate domes, and champagne glasses, combined to make vases.  Love these.

I like the orange cloth in the middle of the table.  You don't really see it from a distance, but it adds a big pop of color when you walk up to the table.  A lot of people don't really care for orange.  As for me, it's one of my favorite colors!

I LOVE tablescapes!  They are one of the easiest things to do to create, what I like to call

 "PRETTY POWER"

Can you tell I have a thing for orange, brown, green, and white?  Oh and let's not forget AMBER!

Perfect For Fall ~ Tablescape ~ Pretty Plates

If you want to set a pretty table just buy pretty plates!  I'm super excited that my plates have arrived in the mail.  What plates you ask?  These plates!

Aren't they pretty?!  Perfect for Fall, Spring, or any other time of the year for that matter!  When I saw them, the first thing I thought was... they'd be perfect for Thanksgiving!  They are English Transferware. Nancy from Nancy's Daily Dish Blog has an Etsy shop where she sells her English Transfer dishes, and she has so many pretty things there.  She was super nice and sent them out super fast.  It's so fun getting goodies in the mail! 

I was so excited I slapped them down on the table just as soon as I could!

Fall Inspired Dining Room Finished

I finally finished the dining room,  for now.  I didn't do too much more to it.  I added my gold vintage chairs at the head of the table.  I thought the colors worked well.

Bring The Outside In

I've been giving my dining room a major "Fall" redo.  Mainly because I have tree branches coming out of my wazoo!  But, I'm having fun with it.  I brought in lots of branches after pruning the heck out of them.  I had a lot of brown leaves to cut off!

I prettied my branches up with small silk flower strands, paper leaves, and big beads.

I love fall colors.  I'm loving this room right now.  But, I'm not finished yet!  What do you think so far?
