Ripping My Skirt Off ~ Sofa Skirt That Is

Hello all!  So, if you've been following my blog for a while or if this is the first post you've seen, you should know that I am a craigslist, thrift store, and garage sale junkie.  Most everything I use to decorate with is a thrifted item.  With that being said, meet my newest additions.  I found this sofa at a thrift store for $60.

I love the bones of the sofa, but I am not really a fan of skirted furniture.  So, I ripped its skirt clean off!

I think it gives the sofa an updated look, even though, I am sure a lot of people would have thought it was just fine with the skirt on.  The key thing is to make sure the sofa you are going to de-skirt has good legs.  No pun intended! : )  Here is the sofa now, showing a little leg and sporting new pillows!

And, here it is sitting in the room with some of my other new finds.

I love BIG coffee tables, so, I had these two glass top end tables sitting around and decided to use them as pedestals for a large glass top.  I took the glass out of the tops of both the tables and just used them as a base for one large piece of glass.

No too bad right!?

Here is another thrift store chair I found.  This chair was $50.  It almost cost the same as the sofa!  Crazy, right?  I got the sofa for a steal.

Here is another chair in almost the same fabric, the color is pretty much the same.  It was $25

I used the figure eight table (see that makeover here) as an end table for one of the chairs and the fabric ottoman part can be pulled out from underneath for additional seating.

Here is the room complete.  So what do you think?  Does it look like you just walked into a thrift store?  Cuz you did (kinda) lol.

All the tables (there are 4 of them total) cost $35.  I used this little table too, beside the curvey chair.

You can see tables makeover here.  These were supposed to go in a friends makeover, but we went in a different direction, so I got to keep them.
Room cost $170 plus a few extra bucks for the accessories, also thrifted.

Would love to hear your comments on this room!

  1. I am in love with that tufted sofa!!! 60 dollars!! WOW!!!I think more people would appreciate your work if the lighting was better. I see the sun is coming into the room full throttle! Maybe try doing it in a time of day when there is a bit less sun or close the drapes and turn on all the lamps? It's definitely worth playing with it! :) I <3 the new redo!

  4. You do not have to buy brand new. Second hand units are aplenty online and offline. Schrank entsorgen Berlin
